Who We Are
The Christian Church in the Southwest (CCSW) is a vibrant and diverse region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), spanning Texas, New Mexico, and the Panhandle of Oklahoma. We are a community of congregations and leaders working together to proclaim the Gospel, nurture faith, and serve our neighbors. Our region is home to historic congregations, new church starts, and ministries that reflect the rich diversity of the Southwest.
We believe that God calls us to be a church where all are welcome at the Table, unity is celebrated over uniformity, and love is the foundation of our mission.
Our Mission
We are committed to equipping, connecting, and empowering individuals and congregations to live out their faith boldly. Through worship, learning, service, and justice, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
At our core, we:
Support & Strengthen Churches – providing guidance, resources, and encouragement to help congregations thrive.
Raise Up Leaders – investing in clergy, lay leaders, and emerging voices to guide the church into the future.
Foster Connection – creating spaces where Disciples can gather, grow, and work together in ministry.
Live Out God’s Justice & Love – advocating for inclusion, compassion, and service in our communities.
What We Do
The Christian Church in the Southwest exists to inspire and equip people for faithful action. Our work takes many forms, including:
Regional Gatherings & Worship – Moments of celebration, renewal, and shared faith at events like the CCSW Regional Assembly.
Clergy & Leadership Development – Support for ministers and lay leaders through education, mentoring, and retreats.
Church Vitality & Transformation – Resources and guidance to help congregations discern their future and live into their calling.
Youth & Young Adult Ministries – Creating spaces for the next generation to grow in faith and leadership.
Social Justice & Community Engagement – Partnering in ministries that advocate for the marginalized and serve our neighbors in love.

With over 300 congregations, we are a dynamic regional church that celebrates unity in Christ while embracing our diversity. From small-town congregations to urban ministries, CCSW churches reflect a variety of cultures, languages, and worship styles.
