11/9/2017: Greetings! There is a lot happening with Regional Restructure. Regional, Area, and congregational leaders are working and praying toward fulfillment of the Restructure plan. Here are some resources to help keep you and your congregations in the loop.

  • Snapshot progress report (as of November 9, 2017):

    • Town hall meetings are still being held and scheduled throughout the Region to share information, receive feedback, have conversations, and build relationships.

      • An online Town Hall meeting will be on December 5, 2017, at noon CST. To participate, go to www.freeconferencecall.com, select “online meetings,” and then enter the meeting ID “ccsw2017.”

    • The 2018 budget that takes into account the new Regional structure has been approved by the Regional Council. See the 2018 budget here.

    • Staffing:

      • Our new Regional Minister, Rev. Dr. Andy Mangum, began his ministry with the CCSW on October 16, 2017.

      • Rev. Dr. Zena McAdams has transitioned to serving as part-time Interim Regional Executive Minister.

      • Rev. David Hargrave has been called as Interim Regional Connection Minister serving East Texas/NEA.

      • Rev. Christal Fisher has been called as Interim Regional Connection Minister serving South Texas/BBA.  

      • A search team will soon beg in working to call one or more Interim Regional Connection Ministers to serve West Texas and New Mexico.

    • The Regional Personnel Committee (RPC) has been formed, and its members were approved by the Regional Council at the October 20-21, 2017, meeting. The members include Whitney Waller-Cole (chair), Julio and Yolanda Estrada, Andy Brink, Dottie Cook, Bob Aubrey, Jimmy Cobb, and Andy Mangum. A Texas Christian Missionary Fellowship (TCMF) representative will soon be added. This is the group that will recommend the number, location, and mix of part-time/full-time Community Regional Ministers (CRM) to the Regional Council for approval on an on-going, as-needed basis. The RPC’s goal is to make initial recommendations for CRM staffing structure at the March Regional Council meeting after collecting and synthesizing information from congregations, clergy, and constituency groups so that we can meet the needs of our churches throughout the Region.

    • There are several task forces working to address various areas. The sub-committees that have been formed for limited purposes include:

      • Camps and Conferences: This committee has been tasked with considering how to make camp and conference administration more consistent across the Region and to assess what tasks that currently may be handled in Area offices need to transition elsewhere. The members of this task group include: Christy Drechsel (TBA, facilitator), Heather Reed (HPA), TJ Shoop-York (CEA), Bob Hearne (NTA), Matthew Hudman (CPA), and Brett Coe (BBA).

      • Area Committee on Ministry: Dottie Cook, chair of the Regional Committee on Ministry, is leading this effort to standardize practices across the Region.

      • Funding: This group will address the benefits and concerns associated with various funding models. Members of this group include Brian Gibson (facilitator), Gary Speer (NTA), Andy Brink (CPA), Dan Anderson (HPA), Kyle Dennis (TBA), and Peggy Edge (CPA).

6/12/2017: God continues to be at work in the Southwest Region! Over the years, there have been several efforts to reorganize the Region to increase the entire Region’s effectiveness and viability, but nothing has moved to or past the Regional Council in recent years until now. May 5-6, the Regional Council met, discussed, and approved the conceptual framework that was brought forth by the Regional Restructure Dialogue Group.

That framework places all administrative and staffing responsibilities in the Regional level, with Regional staffing consisting of a Regional Minister, Regional Executive, and Community Regional Ministers and support staff located across the entire Region. Areas would continue to provide valuable volunteer-led ministry. Click below to read more about the background and process that led us to this point and subsequent actions. 

 

 

The Restructure Dialogue Group wants to hear from Areas and congregations, so look for information about meetings, webinars and live-streaming opportunities in the near future.     • Las reuniones de comunidad todavía se llevan a cabo y se programan en toda la Región para compartir información, recibir comentarios, mantener conversaciones y construir relaciones.

CCSW Proceso de Reestructuración

6/12/2017: ¡Dios continúa trabajando en la Región del Suroeste! A lo largo de los años, se han realizado varios esfuerzos para reorganizar la Región para aumentar la eficacia y la viabilidad de toda la Región, pero en estos últimos años, ninguna resolución se ha movido ni aprobado por el Consejo Regional.  Del 5 al 6 de mayo, el Consejo Regional se reunió, discutió y aprobó el marco conceptual presentado por el Grupo de Diálogo de Reestructuración Regional.

Ese marco coloca todas las responsabilidades administrativas y de personal a nivel regional, con un personal regional compuesto por un Ministro Regional, Ejecutivo Regional, y Ministros Regionales de la Comunidad y personal de apoyo ubicados a través de la Región. Las áreas continuarán proporcionando un valioso ministerio liderado por voluntarios.
