CCSW Went BEYOND at General Assembly 2025

“We didn’t just show up — we went BEYOND!”

What does it mean to go beyond? At the 2025 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Southwest Region (CCSW) answered that question — not with a slogan, but with presence, power, and praise.

Held in Memphis, Tennessee, this year’s Assembly was a Spirit-filled gathering of Disciples from across the United States and Canada. But throughout the week, it was clear that CCSW came with a special kind of energy — one rooted in connection, courage, and commitment to the future of our church.

🔔 Beyond the Welcome

The moment the Assembly began, CCSW was unmistakable. Our region led the charge into worship — ringing cowbells, wearing vibrant t-shirts, and lifting up joyful noise that turned heads and opened hearts. What began as a symbol of excitement quickly became a symbol of witness: we are here, we are united, and we believe in this church.

🙌 Beyond the Stage: Worship that Moved Us

Worship at General Assembly is always a highlight — but this year, it felt transcendent. Worship reminded us that the Holy Spirit is at work in every voice, every language, every tradition. Whether in prayer or proclamation, CCSW helped guide the Assembly into sacred spaces where God’s presence was deeply felt.

We didn’t just participate in worship — we embodied it.

🎤 Beyond the Expected: Leaders Who Inspired

From leading workshops to offering public witness, CCSW leaders shared wisdom that moved the church beyond the familiar and into what’s possible. They challenged systems of injustice, offered fresh visions for evangelism, and spoke truth with boldness and love.

We are proud to say: CCSW isn’t just leading locally — we’re shaping the national conversation on what it means to be church today.

🧒 Beyond Tomorrow: Youth and Young Adults Leading Now

Our youth and young adults didn’t sit on the sidelines — they stood at the center. Whether leading prayers, engaging in tough conversations, or simply showing up with joy and authenticity, their presence was prophetic.

The future of the church isn’t tomorrow — it’s right now. And the next generation of CCSW leaders are already taking us beyond where we’ve been.

💬 Beyond Boundaries: Building Beloved Community

While General Assembly is full of formal gatherings, many of the most sacred moments happen in the margins — in shared meals, hallway reunions, hotel lobbies, and spontaneous conversations. CCSW members found each other and formed deeper bonds across generations, languages, and geographies.

It was more than an event — it was a family reunion. And it reminded us that the church is strongest when we walk together.

"We are the church that goes beyond. Beyond borders. Beyond fear. Beyond what's always been. And we are just getting started."

What does it mean to go beyond?

It means showing up when no one expects you to.
It means raising your voice in praise even when it’s hard.
It means honoring the past while daring to dream forward.
It means being the church — in witness, in justice, and love for God.

At General Assembly 2025, CCSW went BEYOND.
And by God’s grace, we’re not done yet.
