Suicide Prevention Workshop

The “AS+K? About Suicide To Save A Life” workshop provides participants with an overview of the basic epidemiology of suicide and suicidal behavior. In this course, participants are trained to recognize warning signs—behaviors and characteristics that might indicate elevated risk for suicidal behavior—and the initial intervention steps to support a person who may be at risk for suicide. Examining statistics, risk factors and safety issues, participants will become aware of their role as faith leaders and community helpers in the process of saving lives from suicide. This course is not designed to train clinical assessment, screening, diagnosis, or treatment of any mental or physical health condition. This course is focused on helping faith communities become better aware of the multifaceted issues related to suicide and actively participate in its prevention.

This course will be presented by Stephen Lantis M.A., LPC, who is a certified AS+K trainer.

Stephen serves Burke Mental Health, as the Suicide Prevention Liaison and the Director of Children and Adolescent Services.
