General Minister & President Calls Pastors Together

Dr. Sharon E. Watkins, General Minister & President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is calling all Disciples clergy to come together for a time of rest, renewal and rejuvenation September 8-10, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois. The theme for this gathering is “Wholeness in a Fragmented World: Body, Mind & Spirit.” The Pastor’s Conference will feature noted preachers Dr. Floyd Flake and Bishop William Willimon.

Dr. Watkins will open the conference with highlights from the ministry plan and state of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Workshops and panel discussions on topics such as worship planning and preparation, stewardship, community involvement, ministering to the five generations of the church, and others will be included in the event. Early bird registration is available through May 15th with double occupancy at $500 and single occupancy at $575. After May 16th, the price goes up. Scholarships for $250 are available with priority given to new church pastors and pastors of congregations in a transformation process through DHM or Church Extension. Scholarship requests should be submitted by May 1, 2008.
